CUCB 10-Miler Training: Week 2

After traveling last week and enjoying delicious views and foods in Miami, I felt a new burst of energy starting off this week. However, halfway through the week I felt a bit under the weather, so I took it easy for the rest of the week.

This week’s theme was: LISTENING TO MY BODY. The strategies I used to help me were:

  • Pushing myself physically a bit more than my mind would allow it.
  • If after that I still didn’t feel that I could train, I take a break.
  • Preparing a training schedule that was 20% flexible. Out of my 10 weeks of training, I accounted for 2 weeks of a relaxed schedule. Life happens – deadlines come up, events get in the way, body needs rest. It’s important to account for this in the beginning and set realistic expectations for yourself!

Monday

Upper Body Workout: Chest, Triceps, Shoulders

I forgot to document which exercises I did so here is a picture from the gym instead 🙂

Tuesday

Went on my 3 mile run in the evening. Didn’t quite hit the 3 miles, but felt great the entire time! I even caught this BEAUTIFUL sunset as I was finishing up my run.

Miles: 2.91, Pace: 13.48

Wednesday

Upper Body Workout: Back, Biceps, Core

  • bent over rows
  • lat pull downs
  • face pulls
  • pull overs with cable machine
  • circuit 45 seconds each: rope pull, svend presses , ab crunches on ball

Thursday

Started the day off not feeling well, so took it easy today with a walk instead of a run. I still wanted to cover the distance that I had planned so I walked a bit over 3 miles. It probably did not help that it was extremely gloomy the entire day and just about to rain during my entire walk.

Friday

Rest day!

Saturday & Sunday

Saturday was supposed to be my long run, but I knew I needed the weekend to recover. I did make sure to stretch two times a day to help my muscles relax.

Total Weekly Mileage: 5.91 miles

Highs/Lows of the week

High & Low: Felt like a wasted week because I started off the week on such a good note, but I was just glad that I had accounted for a few off weeks in my program so it didn’t make me feel “behind” in my training.

Looking forward to getting back in the groove next week and have a really great training week!
