The Quarter Life Crisis?

Few weeks ago I turned the big 2-5! Spent the day with family and friends with a big meal and ice cream cake to close out the night πŸ™‚

As I am officially halfway through my twenties, I have been thinking a lot about what it means to be healthy and how my lifestyle choices affect (and will continue to affect) my present and the future. I don’t normally make or stick to my birthday resolutions, but this year I decided I want to focus on some simple changes!

1) I want to create a morning routine.

Pre-pandemic I used to have a strict morning routine with the alarm clock going off at 5:15am. I would hit the gym, shower, grab breakfast, and start my morning commute to work. All that has changed since then and I now still struggle to wake up before 8am. Even when claiming myself as a “morning person” this has been far out of practice and I want to change that this year. While I won’t be setting an alarm for the crack of dawn yet, I still want to regularly wake up early enough to accomplish a few personal tasks before the workday begins.

These tasks include:
– a session of meditation/prayer
– light yoga/stretching
– a small walk
– shower
– breakfast

2) I want to be more sustainable.

As a person who is already recycles & reuses almost everything, showers very quickly, and barely uses plastic water bottles, there are always more ways to become sustainable.

This year, I want to focus on one aspect in particular: clothes.

Fast fashion has been a hot topic over the past few years as more and more curtains are pulled back on the industry. Even knowing all these facts, I find myself browsing for clothes with lower price tags without acknowledging the cost it has taken to make the item or the quality of the fabric. On top of this, my closet is full of clothes I have barely worn or haven’t even wore for the first time! I want to spend this year buying less and reusing more — and when I do buy, I want to focus on supporting brands that are sustainable. Looking out for any recommendations for brands with sustainable options!

3) I want to achieve the perfect handstand.

My original goal for my 25th year was to run a full marathon, but because of a knee injury I will have to table that goal for another year! So instead, this year I want to focus on being able to do the perfect handstand. There are three main reasons for this specific goal:
1) Just be able to do it!
2) There are so many physical benefits of being able to do this which will help my body become stronger in general.
3) To develop the upper body and core muscles which will help prepare me for my marathon training in the future πŸ™‚

Stay tuned for how the year goes!
